There is a reason for every human endeavour and we are no different. The purpose for creating and maintaining a company like ours is the same now as it was in 1988, when it was conceived over a cup of coffee by our founders Geoff Roberts and Philip Manidis.
At the time, Geoff (an environmental planner) and Philip (a town planner) were working for a large Sydney engineering company. With a shared passion to move environmental considerations to the forefront of the planning process, Geoff and Philip envisioned a consulting firm that operated on strong environmental values, was innovative in its strategies and was an exciting company to work for. Armed with a new Apple ll computer, determination and solid experience in urban planning, Manidis Roberts began in the third bedroom of Geoff’s Enmore home.
Since then, through our successful collaboration on many of Sydney’s vital infrastructure projects, the company has earned a reputation for excellence and emerged as a leader in environment and communications consulting.
Olympic victory
A significant milestone was the 1993 announcement that Sydney would host the 2000 Olympics. The International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) mandate to create ‘The Green Olympics’ provided Manidis Roberts with an opportunity to showcase our innovative thinking and to set a new benchmark in sustainable Olympic building practices. Our team collaboratively planned and implemented strategies that exceeded the IOC’s criteria for sustainable development. As a result, the 2000 Olympics lifted the bar in urban regeneration, leaving a shining legacy for Sydney and the Olympic movement.
Today, we remain committed to our strong core values as we continue to build on our successful track record. At Manidis Roberts, we’re proud of our history and are excited about our future. We may have outgrown Geoff’s third bedroom, but our vision remains the same.
