Board welcomes new director Dawson Petie

April 2010

Manidis Roberts has appointed well-known Queenslander, Dawson Petie, to the role of non-executive director.

In welcoming Dawson to the board, company chairman Philip Manidis described him as "a highly experienced director with an outstanding reputation for integrity and ethical practice. And he has valuable experience in transport and other industry sectors very relevant to Manidis Roberts," he said.

During more than 30 years as a company director, Dawson has served on the boards of some of Queensland’s largest organisations, including Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), Queensland Rail, SunSuper and UnitingCare.

He has held senior executive positions in major national organisations, both commercial and not-for-profit.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia and an Affiliate of Chartered Secretaries Australia. In 2003 he was awarded the Centenary Medal for distinguished service to industrial relations.

Before retiring from full-time employment Dawson was General Manager Special Projects for QIC.

His broad-ranging career experience has provided him with a blend of knowledge, skills, relationship networks and business philosophy which the Manidis Roberts board considers especially valuable in Australia’s current business environment.

One of Dawson’s first roles as a director will be to head up Manidis Roberts’ new Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.
