December 2011

Manidis Roberts and alliance partner UGL have today been announced as a successful bidder for a major rail infrastructure project in Victoria.

The $278 million alliance contract involves the design, construction and testing and commissioning of the project wide train control, signalling, information and communication technology and power supply for the Australian and Victorian Government’s Regional Rail Link (RRL) project.

The project, which will become metropolitan Melbourne’s first major new rail line in 80 years, will improve capacity and reliability across the network.

“Regional Rail Link is an important part of the Australian and Victorian government’s plan to upgrade and improve rail services in Melbourne and we are excited to be part of this landmark project,” said Manidis Roberts’ Executive General Manager, Victoria, Meegan Sullivan.

“This is the only work package to span the length of the corridor and requires a number of technical, organisational and stakeholder interfaces to work together to deliver the project. Working closely with our project partners, Regional Rail Link Authority, MTM, and V/Line we are very much looking forward to successfully delivering this key public transport project.”

Manidis Roberts will lead on all environment, sustainability and stakeholder communication issues, with a particular focus on integrating the works with other works packages and stakeholders – including operators, transport agencies, government departments, local councils and the public.
