New service helps clients cope with changing climate
A new service being offered by Manidis Roberts assists clients to translate climate change science and policy into the delivery of their projects at a micro level.
The aim is to help clients increase their capacity to adapt to climate risk, enabling them to make informed decisions in the present, avoid increased operation and maintenance costs in the future, improve their understanding of climate change and its relationship with socio-economic scenarios, and avoid early retirement of their infrastructure and services.
Manidis Roberts environment executive manager, Mark Hather, said understanding climate change risk is especially crucial for large infrastructure and urban development projects.
"The climate change projections of most concern include more frequent and more intense storms, bushfires and droughts, coastal flooding and rising sea levels, and hotter temperatures" Mark said.
"The service we offer identifies strategies to adapt to these future risks and thereby assists clients to build resilience into their projects.
"We prepare strategic adaptation plans based on accurate risk assessments and a sound understanding of a client’s vulnerability to climate change," he said.
Manidis Roberts' climate change advisory unit is headed by Adam Davis.
"Adam is an acknowledged expert with more than 10 years’ experience in climate change and sustainability," Mark said.
"His recent projects include those for local government, transport infrastructure projects, water sector and urban developments."
