Manidis Roberts produced Australand’s sustainability strategy, which addressed the core issues facing the development industry and included targets to deliver social, environmental and economic
outcomes. It also established the minimum performance standards expected of all their projects, reporting mechanisms and corporate partners.

The strategy recognised that sustainability outcomes can be best achieved in partnership with governments, communities and other
stakeholders. The strategy explored solutions to major issues confronted by all Australian cities, such as:

• Water and energy demand management.
• Housing affordability.
• Protection of the natural environment.
• The challenge presented by social fragmentation.
