In July 2002, the State Government announced it would investigate building an M4 East Motorway to connect the M4 Motorway at North Strathfield with Parramatta Road and the City West Link. This link would provide important freight and business benefits by linking the eastern end of the M4 with the metropolitan motorway network.
In December 2003, three route options, including a favoured option of a 3.6 kilometre tunnel, were released. In June 2004, in response to community comment, the preferred option was modified.
Manidis Roberts managed the community and stakeholder consultation in the planning phase. We also established and staffed a community information centre, managing community enquiries and preparing a report on the responses to the overview report.
