The Olympic Village showcased Sydney’s expectations of a ‘green games’, and helped fulfil the commitment to a sustainable environment. In design, construction, waste management, and energy and water conservation, the Village was a model of sustainable development innovation. For example ninety per cent of the waste materials from the village were recycled.
As part of a large integrated team, Manidis Roberts conceived the innovations and ideas that would deliver the most sustainable athlete’s village. We developed the components, industry partnerships and strategy to deliver the world’s largest solar village. Today the athlete’s village has been transformed into a sustainable and vibrant new suburb called Newington.
Key achievements included
